V PAY - information and benefits for cardholders
In your own country V PAY cards will be accepted in all the same places as your existing debit card. The difference is that they will also be accepted more conveniently and more securely right around Europe.
Automatically upgraded
- Many banks from across Europe are beginning to issue V PAY debit cards
- If you are a customer of one of these banks, you should automatically receive a new card (generally when your existing debit card expires).
- The new card will work in exactly the same way as your old card, often with the same terms and conditions and the same PIN.
- The only difference will be the V PAY logo – meaning the card will be welcomed at a growing range of European merchants, and it will always be protected by the latest chip and PIN technology.
The easy way to pay – right across Europe
- Cards carrying the V PAY logo will give you an easy and convenient way of making a purchase or withdrawing cash across Europe.
- In your own country, your new card will be accepted in exactly the same way and in all the same places as your existing debit card. You can also use it in any merchants and ATM machines across Europe that display the V PAY logo.
- Whenever and wherever the card is used, it is always protected by the latest chip and PIN technology – so the card will always be accepted in the same secure way.
Safe and secure
- Cards carrying the V PAY logo are protected by the latest chip and PIN technology
- This is the new international safety standard for payment cards being introduced around Europe and worldwide
- The only way that a V PAY card can be used in cash machines or shops is by using a PIN. This means that the risk of fraud – through theft and counterfeit – is reduced.
A card for every day spending
- V PAY is now accepted by a wide range of shops across many of Europe’s main tourism and business destinations. And, as it becomes more established, we expect that many more merchants will welcome V PAY.
- In particular, V PAY is particularly suitable for routine, day-to-day spending – and merchants should happily accept V PAY for small amounts.
- V PAY will also be widely accepted for self-service transactions – such as ticket machines at train stations, self-checkout aisles at grocery shops and pay-at-pump petrol stations.
